Be Photography "Specials"

Usually once or twice a year here at Be Photography Oregon, we like to put on special events. The Fall Special has been the most popular and has been going on for quite a few years now. Every year is a little different, but the premise is the same. We pick a fun location and book a whole bunch of shoots in one day or weekend. This allows us to offer you a discounted price, since we aren't traveling all over to take the pictures.

The discount also comes with a few sacrifices though, and my perfectionist nature has a hard time with that. For example, I usually don't shoot in the middle of the day, just in case it is bright and sunny that day, because I like to avoid harsh shadows and squinty eyes. However, with the specials, we book families all day long and can't control the weather (this year looks like it is going to be bright and sunny... which is certainly better than rain, but I would have preferred overcast or partly cloudy to get the best portraits possible.)

We also usually shoot for at least 45 minutes to an hour, and sometimes it takes kids (and adults too, if we're being honest) about that long to open up and start truly being comfortable with the process. The special time slots are only 30 minutes, and although this is plenty of time to get lots of really great shots, it sometimes doesn't lend itself to the fun candids or more natural poses and expressions that you might get in portraits taken during a longer session.

Finally. the specials that we offer usually specify that the photographer will choose which images come with your package. This years Fall Special comes with 10 digital files. The rest of the images from your session will be available in an online gallery for purchase if you would like, but this isn't always the case with specials. We save time and money by not having to edit every good picture from your session, but this also means that we might not pick the same images that you would have chosen had you booked a full session with us.

Of course, there are upsides too. First and foremost, you save money! Our prices have increased over the years for our full sessions, in order to compensate for the cost and upkeep of professional equipment and editing software, props, website renewals, ect. But we have done our best to keep the price of the Fall Special reasonable and affordable so everyone has the opportunity to get some great family portraits done at least once a year. It is also a great way for new clients to try us out with out committing to a full session. It's always in the Fall, which is my personal favorite time for portraits and we try to choose a location that is fun, private, and unique. In fact, we are always scouting for great private properties to use for photo shoots, and if we end up using yours for our Fall Special, your session is free that year! We also try to make a point of bringing along some fun props and furniture. These items are available during full sessions as well, but usually by request only since we obviously can't haul multiple couches, chairs, hay bails, ect to every shoot we do.

Anyway, I hope this information helps you understand our specials a little more, and allows you to give a little bit of grace to us if your pictures don't turn out exactly as you envisioned they would when you browsed our website. Our ultimate hope is that you give us the opportunity to photograph you again in the future, either at next years Fall Special (be sure to book early... this years spots filled VERY fast!) or during a full private session.

Thank you so much for allowing us to do what we love! We hope our passion for photography and commitment to you stand out in your next session with us, and as usual, please feel free to contact us with any questions, concerns, or ideas that you have.

We are also compiling a client email list to help keep you up to date about specials and events her at Be Photography. If you would like to be added to that list, send us an email at shay@bephotographyoregon.com.
